The 9 Days Double Gorilla Trekking Safari is an extraordinary primate and wildlife safari designed for travelers who want to experience mountain gorillas on two separate trekking days while also exploring some of Western Uganda's most remarkable wildlife destinations.

The safari combines Kibale Forest National Park, famous for its chimpanzees and diverse primate population, with Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you will enjoy game drives, a Kazinga Channel boat cruise and a wildlife experience in the Ishasha Sector. The highlight of the journey is Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where you will undertake two separate gorilla trekking experiences, giving you the opportunity to visit two different habituated gorilla groups on different days.

The journey begins with an overnight in Entebbe before continuing to Kibale Forest, where you will trek chimpanzees and explore the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. From Kibale, you will travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park for savannah game drives and a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel.

The safari then continues south through the Ishasha Sector, where you may have an opportunity to see its famous tree-climbing lions, before reaching Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

On Days 7 and 8, you will undertake two gorilla trekking experiences in Bwindi, each involving a separate trekking allocation. This provides a special opportunity to experience the mountain gorillas in different forest conditions and observe the social behaviour of different gorilla groups.

The safari ends with a domestic flight from the Kihihi area back to Entebbe, making the final transfer more convenient after several days of road travel.

Safari Tips

01 The two gorilla treks are separate experiences and may involve different terrain, distances and trekking conditions.
02 Gorilla trekking can involve steep, muddy and uneven forest trails, so good physical preparation is recommended.
03 Wear waterproof hiking boots with good ankle support.
04 Carry a rain jacket because weather conditions in Bwindi can change quickly.
05 Consider hiring a porter during each gorilla trek for assistance with your day pack and difficult sections of the trail.
06 Follow the instructions of the park guides and trackers at all times.
07 Maintain the required distance from gorillas and other wildlife.
08 Do not touch, feed or attempt to provoke wildlife.
09 Keep noise low when approaching gorillas and chimpanzees.
10 Protect cameras and phones from rain and moisture using waterproof bags.
11 Carry binoculars for wildlife and bird watching.
12 Early morning game drives can be cool, so carry a warm layer.
13 Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed and depend on animal movements, weather and season.
14 Tree-climbing lions are a major attraction in Ishasha, but sightings cannot be guaranteed.
15 The lion tracking experience should be confirmed in advance if it is important to your itinerary.
16 Domestic flight schedules are subject to airline operations and should be reconfirmed before travel.
17 Keep your passport and travel documents secure throughout the safari.
18 Respect local communities and ask permission before photographing people.
19 Keep the national parks and forests clean by carrying non-biodegradable waste with you.
20 Tipping guides, trackers, porters and lodge staff is customary when you are satisfied with the service.
21 Book gorilla permits well in advance, particularly for two consecutive trekking days.
22 Allow some flexibility in the itinerary because trekking duration, wildlife sightings and road conditions can vary.
23 Follow responsible tourism practices throughout the safari to help protect Uganda's wildlife, forests and local communities.
