Your safari begins early in Kampala or Entebbe as you meet your professional local female safari guide and begin the journey towards northeastern Uganda.
The journey takes you through the changing landscapes of central and northern Uganda, passing towns, villages, agricultural areas and expansive countryside as you gradually approach the Karamoja region.
Because Kidepo is located in a remote part of Uganda, the journey is long. However, the changing scenery makes the road trip an important part of the experience.
Travel through the northern Ugandan countryside towards Kitgum and continue towards Kidepo Valley National Park.
ARRIVAL AT KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK
As you approach the park, the landscape begins to change dramatically.
The area around Kidepo is characterized by open grasslands, thorny savannah, dry valleys, rocky hills and rugged mountain scenery.
The park's remote setting gives it a genuine wilderness atmosphere, with large open landscapes and relatively low levels of human settlement.
Depending on your arrival time, you may begin to encounter wildlife as you approach your lodge.
Continue to your accommodation, check in and enjoy some time to relax.

Discover the remote wilderness, spectacular landscapes and remarkable wildlife of northeastern Uganda on this 3-day Kidepo National Park Safari.
Kidepo Valley National Park is one of Uganda's most distinctive wilderness destinations, located in the remote northeastern corner of the country. Covering approximately 1,442 square kilometres, the park is characterized by vast open plains, rugged mountains, seasonal rivers, rocky outcrops and expansive savannah landscapes.
The park's isolation and varied habitats support an impressive collection of wildlife, including several species that are uncommon or absent from other Ugandan national parks. Visitors may encounter lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, cheetahs, hartebeests, kudus, elands, jackals and other wildlife depending on the season and location.
Kidepo is also an exceptional destination for birdwatching, with hundreds of bird species recorded across its diverse habitats.
Beyond wildlife, this safari provides an opportunity to meet communities in the Karamoja region and experience aspects of Karamojong culture, including traditional homesteads, livestock keeping, crafts, music and dance.
With a professional English-speaking local female safari guide, this safari combines wildlife viewing, cultural encounters and the dramatic landscapes of one of Uganda's most remote protected areas.
Safari Route
Your Safari Itinerary
Wake up early and enjoy breakfast before setting out for your main wildlife experience in Kidepo Valley National Park.
MORNING GAME DRIVE
The early morning is an excellent time to explore the park when temperatures are cooler and wildlife is often active.
Your guide will take you through selected wildlife areas in search of the animals that make Kidepo one of Uganda's most distinctive safari destinations.
Keep an eye out for elephants, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, lions, leopards, hartebeests, kudus, elands, oribis, waterbucks and other antelope species.
Depending on the area and season, you may also have opportunities to encounter more unusual species associated with the northern Ugandan wilderness, including cheetahs, bat-eared foxes, aardwolves and striped hyenas.
The Narus Valley is particularly important for wildlife because its permanent water sources attract animals, especially during drier periods.
Your guide will explain the behaviour of the animals, the different habitats and the importance of water to wildlife survival in the semi-arid Karamoja landscape.
The park also provides excellent opportunities for photography, with wildlife often set against dramatic mountains and open savannah.
Return to your lodge for lunch and time to relax.
KARAMOJONG CULTURAL EXPERIENCE
In the afternoon, leave the park for a cultural experience with communities in the Karamoja region.
Visit a traditional Karamojong homestead, commonly known as a manyatta, where you can learn about local traditions, pastoral life and the relationship between the Karamojong people and their livestock.
During the visit, learn about traditional homes, cattle keeping, food preparation, crafts and aspects of everyday community life.
You may also experience traditional music and dance performed by community members.
The experience provides an opportunity to learn about the cultural heritage of the Karamoja region directly from local residents.
Photography can be enjoyed where appropriate and with the permission of the people being photographed.
After the cultural experience, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

The early morning light also creates excellent conditions for photography, particularly across the park's wide savannah plains and mountain landscapes.
