After breakfast, you will depart from Kampala or Entebbe and begin your journey towards Lake Mburo National Park in southwestern Uganda.
The drive takes approximately 3–4 hours, depending on your starting point and road conditions. Along the way, you will have opportunities to stop at places of interest, including the Equator crossing at Kayabwe, where you can stand in both the northern and southern hemispheres and enjoy a photo opportunity.
You may also visit the Mpambire Royal Drum Makers' Centre, where you can learn about the traditional craft of drum making and see how locally produced drums and other cultural items are made.
Continuing towards Lake Mburo, the scenery gradually changes into open savannah landscapes dotted with homesteads, banana plantations and herds of long-horned Ankole cattle.
Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge and have lunch. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Mburo, providing an opportunity to see hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, water birds and other wildlife around the lake.
Depending on timing and park conditions, the cruise may be followed by an afternoon or evening game-viewing drive through the surrounding savannah.
You will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

The safari begins in Kampala or Entebbe and takes you through some of Uganda's most scenic and biologically diverse destinations. You will experience a boat cruise on Lake Mburo, a guided nature walk, mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi, game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park, the possibility of seeing the famous tree-climbing lions of Ishasha, a Kazinga Channel boat cruise, and chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest.
Lake Mburo provides an introduction to Uganda's savannah wildlife, with opportunities to see zebras, impalas, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, warthogs and other wildlife. The journey then continues to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where you will undertake an unforgettable mountain gorilla trekking experience in the misty montane forest.
From Bwindi, you will continue to the Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, renowned for its scenic open plains and the possibility of seeing lions resting in the branches of large trees. The safari continues to the northern sector of Queen Elizabeth for a game drive and a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, where hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes and numerous water birds can often be observed.
The final stage takes you to Kibale Forest National Park, one of Uganda's leading primate destinations, for chimpanzee trekking and a guided walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary.
This safari offers an excellent combination of gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking, savannah wildlife, boat cruises, forest exploration and scenic landscapes, all accompanied by a professional local female safari guide.
Safari Route
Your Safari Itinerary
After an early breakfast, you will embark on a guided nature walk in Lake Mburo National Park.
A guided walk provides a different perspective of the park from a vehicle safari. Accompanied by a trained guide, you can explore the landscape on foot while learning about animal tracks, plants, birds and the smaller details of the ecosystem.
Depending on the route and conditions, you may encounter wildlife such as zebras, impalas, warthogs, buffaloes and other antelope species.
After the nature walk, you will begin the journey towards southwestern Uganda and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
The drive takes several hours and passes through changing landscapes, rural communities, cultivated hills and highland scenery. You will have lunch en route before continuing to your lodge.
As you approach Bwindi, the landscape becomes increasingly mountainous and forested. Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge, relax and prepare for the following day's gorilla trekking adventure.

After an early breakfast, you will prepare for one of the highlights of your safari: mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
You will carry your packed lunch and transfer to the appropriate park headquarters for registration and a briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines.
After the briefing, you will enter the forest accompanied by experienced park guides and trackers. The trek can take several hours depending on the location and movement of the gorilla group assigned to you.
Bwindi's terrain is mountainous, densely forested and sometimes steep or muddy. The trek itself is part of the experience as you move through one of Uganda's most important montane forest ecosystems.
Along the way, you may encounter birds, primates, butterflies and other forest life before eventually locating the gorillas.
Once the gorillas are located, you will spend the permitted viewing time observing them in their natural habitat. You may see them feeding, resting, grooming, playing and interacting with members of their group.
The experience provides a rare opportunity to observe one of the world's most endangered great apes at close range while learning about their behaviour and the importance of conservation.
After the gorilla encounter, you will trek back to the park headquarters and meet your safari guide before returning to the lodge.
You will have dinner and overnight at your lodge.

You will arrive in the Ishasha area in time for lunch before heading out for an afternoon or evening game drive.
As you explore the sector, you may encounter Uganda kob, topi, buffaloes, elephants, antelopes and other savannah wildlife. The open plains also provide an excellent setting for wildlife photography.
