Your safari begins with pickup from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe in the morning by your professional local female safari guide.
Begin the journey westwards towards Kibale Forest National Park, traveling through Uganda's countryside and agricultural landscapes.
Kibale is one of Uganda's most important primate destinations and is home to chimpanzees as well as numerous other primate species, including red-tailed monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, L'Hoest's monkeys, olive baboons and other forest species.
Have lunch en route before continuing towards the Kibale area.
In the afternoon, take a guided nature walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. The wetland is particularly popular with birdwatchers and nature lovers and provides an opportunity to experience the forest-edge environment on foot.
During the walk, look out for colourful forest and wetland birds, monkeys and other wildlife. Depending on the season and conditions, you may encounter species such as Great Blue Turacos, hornbills, weavers, kingfishers and other birds.
The walk also provides an opportunity to interact with local communities and learn about traditional livelihoods and conservation around the Kibale ecosystem.
After the activity, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

The 4 Days Uganda Gorillas & Chimpanzees Safari combines two of Uganda's most remarkable primate experiences: chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest National Park and mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
The safari begins in Kampala or Entebbe and takes you westwards to Kibale, widely known for its exceptional population of chimpanzees and diverse primate species. You will explore the forest and surrounding wetlands, with opportunities to encounter chimpanzees, monkeys and a variety of forest birds.
The adventure then continues southwards to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where you will trek through the ancient rainforest in search of endangered mountain gorillas. The gorilla trek offers a rare opportunity to observe a gorilla family in its natural environment, including silverbacks, females and young gorillas.
The journey also includes a Batwa community experience, providing an opportunity to learn about the culture and traditional forest-based lifestyle of communities associated with the Bwindi region.
Starting and ending in Kampala or Entebbe, this is a fast-paced primate safari designed for travelers who want to combine Uganda's chimpanzee and gorilla experiences within one short trip. Because Kibale and Bwindi are separated by several hours of road travel, the itinerary involves substantial driving, although a regional flight option can be considered to reduce road travel.

Your Safari Itinerary
Wake up early and enjoy breakfast before transferring to the Kibale National Park headquarters for your chimpanzee tracking adventure.
After registration and a briefing from the ranger guides, you will enter the forest with the ranger team to search for habituated chimpanzees.
The trek takes you through Kibale's tropical rainforest, where you may encounter other primates and forest wildlife along the way. The ranger and trackers will follow signs of chimpanzee activity, including vocalizations, feeding areas and movement through the forest.
Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend the permitted viewing period observing their behaviour. Chimpanzees are highly active and can move rapidly through the forest, sometimes travelling through the canopy and sometimes descending to the forest floor.
You may see individuals feeding, grooming, calling to one another, climbing trees or moving between different parts of the forest. Your ranger guide will provide information about chimpanzee behaviour and the conservation of these endangered great apes.
After the chimpanzee experience, return from the forest and have lunch before beginning the long journey southwards towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
The drive takes you through the scenic landscapes of western and southwestern Uganda. Depending on the exact trekking time, road conditions and selected Bwindi sector, you will arrive at your lodge later in the afternoon or evening.
Check in, have dinner and rest in preparation for the following day's gorilla trek.

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast before preparing for the highlight of the safari — mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Carry your packed lunch, sufficient drinking water, sturdy waterproof hiking boots, long trousers, a long-sleeved shirt, gardening or trekking gloves, rain protection, insect repellent and your camera.
Your female safari guide will transfer you to the appropriate gorilla trekking briefing point, where you will meet the Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger guides and other trekkers.
During the briefing, you will learn about gorilla trekking procedures, forest safety and responsible wildlife viewing.
After the briefing, enter the dense Bwindi rainforest with the ranger team and begin searching for your allocated gorilla family.
The duration of the trek varies considerably depending on the location and movement of the gorillas, terrain and weather. The trails can be steep, muddy and challenging, making sturdy footwear and good physical preparation important.
As you move through the forest, your ranger guide will explain the ecology of Bwindi and help you understand signs of gorilla activity.
When the gorilla family is located, you will have the permitted viewing time to observe them in their natural environment. You may see a dominant silverback, mothers caring for their young, juveniles playing and other members of the group feeding, resting or moving through the forest.
This is a rare and memorable wildlife encounter, and your ranger will ensure that the experience follows the established conservation guidelines.
After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and time to rest.
Later in the afternoon or evening, depending on your trekking duration, visit a Batwa community around Bwindi. The Batwa have a long historical connection with the forest, and the community experience provides an opportunity to learn about traditional forest knowledge, food gathering, hunting traditions, crafts, music, dance and contemporary community life.
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Make a stop at the Uganda Equator for photographs and an opportunity to visit the nearby craft and souvenir shops.
Continue towards Kampala or Entebbe, arriving later in the afternoon or evening depending on traffic and road conditions.

Safari Experience
This safari brings together two of Uganda's most sought-after primate experiences in one journey. You will move from the tropical forests of Kibale, where chimpanzees and other primates dominate the ecosystem, to the dense mountain rainforest of Bwindi, where you will search for endangered mountain gorillas.
The itinerary is relatively fast-paced because of the distance between the two parks, making it best suited to travelers with limited time who want to experience both chimpanzee tracking and gorilla trekking on the same Uganda safari.
