Stop 3: Botanical Gardens – Nature, History and Lakeside Views
Walk through Entebbe town towards the Botanical Gardens, one of the city’s important historical and natural attractions.
Established in 1898, the gardens were originally created by Europeans to test exotic plants that could be grown in Ugandan soil. Your guide will explain how the site became Uganda’s first agricultural research location for testing crops such as cotton, coffee, rubber and cocoa before their distribution to other parts of the country.
Beyond their agricultural history, the gardens offer a peaceful natural environment with opportunities for birdwatching, primate viewing and enjoying views of Lake Victoria.
Take time to explore the surroundings, observe the different plants and look out for birds and primates during your visit.
