The Equator Island is surrounded by water of the second largest fresh lake in the whole world known as Lake Victoria. The Equator is an imaginary line that runs around the middle of the Earth, dividing it into the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere. It is located at 0 degrees latitude and is approximately 40,075 kilometres (24,901 miles) long.
This deserted Island is home to birds, reptiles, insects and the equator monument, that was once built for the World Tourism Day.
Our Female Guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe and drive you to Nakiwogo landing site to take a boat cruise for a bout 1hr to the equator on Lwaji Island in the middle of Lake Victoria. Enjoy a breath-taking boat cruise while taking great pictures!. Keep an eye out for many bird species like the pelican, kingfisher, grey-headed gull, and yellow bill. When at the Equator you will be shown the imaginary line that runs around the middle of the Earth, dividing it into the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere located at 0 degrees latitude and is approximately 40,075 kilometers (24,901 miles) long. Lwaji Island is one of the the equator points found in Uganda. With few other Equator points found along the Kampala–Masaka highway at Kayabwe and in Queen Elizabeth National Park with many more others around the Country. We later enjoy our Sunset Boat ride back to Nakiwogo Landing Site for a drop off back to the Hotel.
