The 3-day Gorilla trekking tour to Mgahinga National Park, gives you a lifetime opportunity to unlock the wonders of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Located in Kisoro, Southwestern Uganda, Mgahinga is the smallest park in the Pearl of Africa and extends up to 33.7sq.km of land area. This scenic protected area was created in 1991 and offers habitat to several flora, and fauna –accounting for a myriad of species such as mountain gorillas, elephants, buffaloes, jackals, leopards, bush pigs, bush bucks, and over 180 species of birds. This Tour starts and ends in Kampala / Entebbe, Uganda, with a Professional English-speaking female driver guide
You will meet with your female driver guide in Uganda for a briefing. Set off from your hotel property in Kampala, driving via the Masaka-Mbarara-Kabale route in a 4WD safari vehicle. Getting to Mgahinga by road takes about 8-10 hours starting from Entebbe or Kampala. En-route journey encompasses a stopover visit at the Equator and lunch break at Igongo Cultural Centre.
Depart from Igongo Cultural Centre to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Kisoro. Your road trip comes with spectacular views of the country’s rolling hills and surrounding plantations. On arrival, you will proceed to the lodge to have a leisurely dinner and overnight stay.
Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga National Park is like in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and involves spending a good time searching for the family of endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. The day begins with a briefing from the park official, where you get insight into the different guidelines for gorilla trekking. All guests are expected at Mgahinga NP Ntebeko area for briefing and for you to be assigned the park guide.
Leave Ntebeko for an actual search for the Nyakagezi gorilla group of Mgahinga, and expect to take 2-6 hours. The one hour is inclusive and this is when you will explore in depth the daily behaviours of gorillas and take photos. Different behaviours, feeding and mating habits plus others will be explored and you get back to the lodge
Have a relaxed stay at the lodge till evening when you will pay a visit to one of the nearby communities. After, you will get back to spend the rest of the day at the lodge.
